We come from Česká Lípa, the Czech Republic, a town situated in the northern part of the country, near the Czech-Germany-Poland borders, in the Lusatian Mountains area. We were born and raised in the mountains and feel rooted there, hoping never leaving the homeplace of ours.
Our band has been existing for about 20 years now, with some stuff changes during the time, currently playing in 3 (having been together for 10 years): Karolina Stránská – mandolin, vocals, Tomáš Kejklíček – banjo, guitar, vocals, Miloš Macháček – upright bass, vocals.
We write, compose and arrange mostly our own stuff, our own songs, gospel numbers and instrumental tunes, believing that only such effort creates and forms a unique, typical, original and authentic band sound, which every musical group should try to present to listeners. Copying is unacceptable.
We are inspired by both the traditional and contemporary American folk music, especially the Appalachian one. An essential part of our repertoire is made up of gospel vocal music influenced by the white evangelical tradition.
We have released 10 CDs so far and another one is being recorded these days. English, to our opinion, is the only language to be used to present this music, which is not a commonly accepted idea in our country.
